Greetings Brothers and Sisters,
My name is Michael Riedel, the founder of the Catholic Dragons. Our Global Office and Headquarters are located in Downtown Billings, Montana. We are dedicated to the common good and are conforming to church teaching. We affirm the dignity and sanctity of human life from its conception until its natural death, we believe in the official Church’s teaching on marriage, and we believe that the body, blood soul and divinity is ever present in the Holy Eucharist. A major part of being a Dragon is charity and that is what we do for our community, care for the well-being of our fellow dragons and others. We are a non-partisan organization. Membership is not an unpremeditated commitment; it is a commitment of being a disciple. In doing so, we become better Catholics, improve ourselves, our church, our communities and our world.
Founded on May 27th, 2012, A.D. in this basement and incorporated on August 4th, 2014, in Helena, Montana. We are a division of Mary's Army with the rosary as our weapon, because the Rosary is one of the few things that identifies us as Catholics. It is our duty to honor her and to protect her as her Dragons. As Dragons of God, we are to worship him and pay him homage. Our order is guided by four values, they are faith, family, fellowship and fidelity. Faith is when we are called to serve God, the Son and Holy Spirit, which is in our motto in “Serving the Trinity, Serving the Creation.” Family, our families should imitate the Holy Family as well. Fellowship is when we come together as Catholics and as Dragons. Fidelity is loyalty to the Trinity and to the Holy Father.
Dragons are devoted to Jesus Christ and our Holy Mother, The Most Blessed Virgin Mary. We are made up of activists and citizens setting out to worship God, pray, defend the Catholic Church, defend & serve God's creation, to protect the environment, to promote the truth, proclaim the Gospel, provide humanitarian aid & disaster relief, pro-democracy, volunteer at church, contest the enemies of the church, do works of mercy, invoke catholic civil rights, serve the Church and bring people to Jesus Christ. Let me be perfectly clear and bolster you, the Catholic Dragons is not the following…a cult, demonic, a hate group, terrorists or militia, any far winged group, a political group or a secret society.
It seems that there is a one-sided narrative about dragons, especially the western dragon, that it represents all that is evil in the world. This is a disservice to the truth. As you may have heard in the book of Revelation chapter 12 verses 7 to 9 of satan being referred to as the fiery red dragon, but only once and as a hydra dragon with seven-heads and ten-horns. Let me quote Pope Leo XIII, “May she shatter and strike off the multiple heads of the wicked hydra.” Satanic cults use a goat head in a pentagram as their symbol. There is no satanic cult that I am aware of currently that uses the word dragon or dragon imagery.
We refer satan as the dark dragon. If all dragons were evil, then all the dragons in fiction would have to be evil as well. In the book of Ester, Mordecai has a dream about two dragons ready to fight, one was the evil Haman and the other dragon according to Mordecai interpretation of the dream, was himself, a defender of God’s people. Did you know that a chivalry order was founded in 1408 who called themselves the Order of the Dragons and swore their allegiance to the Holy See? Yes, it’s true. You may not have known that Dragons are popular and are universal symbols of strength, wisdom and courage.
Dragons are groups of service-minded men and women who are interested in serving their church, their communities, and the world whether as individuals or as part of a district. Dragons care for the spiritual welfare and well-being of their loved ones, their fellow dragons and neighbors. So, the question is…can a dragon be good? And the answer is a profound yes, so if you are 18 or over, a practicing Catholic, fully initiated into the church and in conforming with church teaching, then I would like to invite you to join us.
When you join the Catholic Dragons, not only do you become part of the Dragon family, but you also become part of the Blessed Virgin Mary’s Army. I ask that you give Catholic Dragons a chance. In conclusion, Dragons can be depicted as friendly, as allies and as good creatures and not manifestations of evil.
